A trip through “Los Altos” (the highlands) of Chiapas & Guatemala focusing on endemic species and the Highlands Grand Slam (Horned Guan, Resplendent Quetzal, Pink-headed Warbler, Azure-rumped Tanager)
There are over 50 endemic bird speices in northern Mesoamerica and this itinerary includes habitat for the Cloud Forest specialist like the Horned Guan and Resplendent Quetzal, as well as some coastal areas that includes the Giant Wren & Agami Heron. While El Triunfo is quite well-known, this route has a similiar species list and some strong cultural overlays as we travel through the homeland of the Ancient and Present-day Maya.
